had to finish a pair of wrist warmers in such short amount of time was that a co-worker was defending her doctoral thesis in Latin on Saturday and I was invited to party afterwards and suddenly last week remembered that I should bring a gift. Another co-worker found a great pattern that really intrigued me and since it called for left over yarn I was hooked.

Meet the Mixed Wave Mitts by Sybil R.

I really enjoyed making these, it’s amazing what you can do with short rows.

Also, I very much like the opportunity to get rid of some left over yarn that is impossible to use up in a bigger project and is just lying around because you absolutely cannot throw away yarn that could still be used for something.

I used Drops Alpaca from Garnstudio in red, brown and yellow-ish. There might be a ballband somewhere if I really search for it but since it’s left overs I’m probably not going to search.

I modified it a bit, using a different thumb panel that the pattern called for, mainly because I didn’t want to knit a thumb and neither did I want to pick ut stitches. This thumb panel is designed by TiiQ on ravelry and you can find the instructions here.

I think the colors work very well together and the pattern together with the colors give it all an air of ancientness, perfect for a new PhD in Latin.
